Catch Up, aka What’s New
So it’s been awhile. OK a good long while but we are going to just jump right in where we are instead of looking back. Those were fun times but so are these and it is so much easier to remember the newer ones dontcha think. Yes? No? Well since its my blog we will do it my way so I am so glad you agreed with me.
This week is the week I think of as Hell Week when I let my mind settle on it at all. Every so many weeks Hubby works a different shift and I absolutely can not stand it. All in the course of one day all of these feelings and possibly more are felt. He is under my feet, in the way, messing up our/his schedule, we glad to spend time with him and then miss him terribly. It is absolutely insane. Its been something like 8 months and OMFG we will never get used to this week.
Soooo to amuse ourselves after he left and to make ourselves feel better since we were unable to go meet friends for a fun day we went to our local thrift shop. Lately I have been reading lots of craft blogs. These amazing women who can take a piece of junk and turn it into amazing things. Think Pottery Barn, Wisteria and Anthropologie. We are remodeling, laying solid hardwood floors, ripping out rooms and changing the flow and function of our home. That gets expensive and a thrifty girl like me does not want to spend any more money than necessary on the decorating after having dropped that much cash already. Plus how fun is it to get to be crafty and having something unique. This is where the thrift store comes in. I have been scouting things to put into my decorating and crafting stashes for all the fun things I do for our home and the girls and I do. Today I think we had quite the score.
After the thrift store digging we decided to come home and hang out and watch a movie. Somehow we still have not gotten to the movie portion of the evening. I started putting our finds away and organizing and the next thing I knew I was dressing up magnets and the girls were playing on their little pottery wheel. While they finished up I registered our postcards we received in the mail from Portugal, Germany, Poland and right here in the USA. Postcrossing is really alot of fun. The girls are really enjoying looking up the places on the map and hearing a little about another country. Its an interesting little hobby and with a little care not too expensive. Well the movie portion of our evening apparently has begun and instead of Avatar we are watching Ratatouille and it seems they can’t see unless I am watching as well.
Have a fantastic 4th of July weekend!
Catch Up
So much has been going on that I haven’t really been online much except to check my messages and destress with a few minutes of Farmville on Facebook. We finally got an appointment with Texas Children’s Hospital for Tav. That went about as well as can be expected. The Dr. wants to do another scope to see what he can see and check for a few things and then we will know a few more things. I have a feeling there isn’t much that can be done for her if he doesn’t find anything. He did give me a couple of prescriptions for things that might help the pain though. Best of all he took her and us seriously and actually showed some compassion. It is amazing how much better Tav is emotionally just having adults in her life that believe her and try to help her.
Then the girls went off to their greatgrands for a long weekend of fun and relaxation. They had a blast which was much-needed after the drama before Tav’s appointment. The principal called to harass me about Tav homeschooling and not being on the school campus. After Hubby had it out with her over harassing us I realized that she was not going to give up and would only escalate if LittleMiss was still in public school. On Monday we withdrew her from the school. We were not prepared for pulling her out but we are excited to be together and the freedom we have to both learn and just to be a family. I never realized exactly how much a slave we were to the school. We weren’t able to do anything in the afternoons because bedtime routine of dinner shower and bedtime started at 6 pm. During school hours I had to be nearby because it seemed I was forever having to go to the school for something. Needless to say the freedom to do whatever, whenever, is fantastic.
