Hubby

And a ;)

I had such a fantastic day yesterday.  My Loverly Hubby and I got to spend some time together before the children woke up which was a wonderful change of pace from the Hi-Bye way things normally work around here.   When he left for work our friends H and PB&J Mom came over with their kiddos and  we planned our field trips for the next couple months and talked about our Halloween Party and tossed a few co-op ideas around.  Then it was time to make maracas!  We tried a technique I had never seen before found here.  I agree with H’s assessment that full black is needed after spending more than a few minutes watching her videos but she is fun to watch and full of ideas that my girls enjoy as well.  soo…YAY!  I am very excited about finishing those up on Thursday after our field trip to a nearby Nature Refuge.

We also made homemade pizza for dinner.  After I made pizza dough the kids rolled out individual pizzas and after a quick bake in the oven they tossed on their toppings.  After putting it back in the oven to get all warm and gooey  they pulled them out and devoured them faster than you can wink or I could take a picture.  I assume that meant they liked them.

Today I hope will be a productive day.  I finished my lesson planner on Sunday and I hope to fill it with the next few weeks lessons  this morning.  This afternoon we plan to have class and work on a few things.  Tav is really focusing on learning to read and LilMiss is going to be writing her goals for this Mod.  I am very interested to see what she says.

A wonderful Hubby made brunch is calling my name so I will be back to show you my planner tomorrow.

The Saga of the Nook

Ever since Barnes and Noble sent out their first press release I have been longing for a nook.  I squashed that desire deep down since I just could not see spending that much on an ereader when I also love printed books the way I do.  I love nothing better than to go to a thrift store and dig or to a bookstore and browse.  I seem to hear the books like something out of Inkheart!  It is love I tell you! Now lurking inside me is huge gadget lover but there is also this thrifty little voice that quite frequently says things such as  “do they really think I am going to pay that much, they must be crazy!” and the like.  So now we come to the point of my little story.   On a whim I bought my incredibly hard to buy for husband a Nook for Father’s Day.  He spends a lot of time at work waiting around and loves to read so I thought that he might enjoy it.  I could see spending money on it for him because he would use it far more than I ever could and would never have to worry about being without a book again.  He was very excited when we presented it to him and has not been seen without it nearby since.  He finds it handy to keep books on hand and it fits into his lunch bag or motorcycle backpack  much better than the thick scifi/fantasy books he typically reads.  He liked it so much I never even really got my hands on it and was expressly forbidden from contaminating it with my girlie books.  He thought everyone at work that keeps looking at it would never let him live down some vampire novel.  He was probably right but I hear quite a few of them are True Blood Fans so maybe my Sookie Stackhouse might not have gone amiss.  As you know the day after Father’s Day they came out with the Nook Wifi which is so much cheaper and at that point I couldn’t stand it any longer my Nook lust took over and  I too had to have a Nook.   This past weekend I went and picked mine up.  Ahh Heaven!  It does not replace books but is satisfying in a whole other way.  What that way is can be a bit hard to describe but ooo it is lovely.  The only thing that bothered me at first was the way it flashes when you turn the page but I quickly became used to it just as we already do with printed books.  It will not be replacing print books for me anytime soon considering there are 8 on my nightstand and a small mountain under it but it definitely holds a special place in my library.  I mean come on its my 2 favorite things!  A book and and a gadget.  Toss in a bit of chocolate and a drink and you may never see me again.

Behold my new love

Saturday’s Thankful Thought

Tonight’s thought will be big enough for tomorrow too since it it is the 4th of July.  Happy Independence Day!

Tonight  I am thankful for my wonderful husband.  He is hardworking, generous of spirit and with his time, a wonderful loving father who takes time for his children and loves me to distraction.  He is all that and so much more but I wont bore you with any more details or we may all get a bit embarrassed heehee.

I am still too ill to enjoy the long drive to his grandmothers so he took the kids and went to take care of the chore list she has for him.  I am grateful for the time alone to destress and relax and the ability to hear myself think.  Though I must admit I am a bit lonely. When I started thinking about it I realized that I haven’t been alone since February and a night along has not happened within recent memory.  Ahh the life of a AP Homeschooling Mom.  I wouldn’t trade it for anything though the occasional day off is much appreciated.
