Sunday Surf

Sunday Surf

This weeks Sunday Surf is brought to you by serendipity.  I was looking for one thing and came across another and am so glad that I did.

The Magic Onions introduced me to  Friday Nature Table

Craft Knife sent me to this great link to learn to make layer melted crayon creations.

5 Orange Potatoes made me want to be outside during the short time we have wonderful weather here in Texas.

The Artful Parent made me want to borrow Jellybean for some playtime.

Since these blogs were so inspiring most of the links are to the blog, not any one post.  Go surf them and have a wonderful Sunday.

Crunchy Domestic Goddess talks about the spanking debate.

Sarah at One Starry Night wrote a poignant “who am i?” post

Sunday Surf 9-12

This week the girls and I focused on our studies and upcoming Halloween party.  Halloween is simply our favorite holiday!  My short and craft heavy surfing certainly reflects my lack of time and narrow focus.  However I hope that you find something to help you along in your blog surfing journey’s.

Learn about a Party to Go at Giver’s Log.

Childmade is a fantastic idea spot for crafting with children.

Tip Junkie had some fun links for DIY Halloween Favors.

I found this Reading Room post at The Rural Socialite very helpful in deciding what to do with my desperately empty reading space.

Sunday Surf

This week we have a short and sweet edition of the Sunday surf.  I really was focused on other things than homeschooling. *gasp* I know it is shocking but next week I will be focused on getting their curriculum and lessons planned for their first official weeks of homeschooling so I thought a brief respite was in order.

Jennifer at Classless and Lovin’ It made me laugh.

I lurked around on the forums at Well Trained Mind and Secular Homeschool.

I also enjoyed digging around in Smrt Mama’s archives at Smrt Lernins and came across her tongue in cheek post on the Archetypes of the Homeschooling Mom which had me examining myself and my beliefs on homeschooling.  I also had a bit of fun labeling my friends.

I guess that is it for this weeks Sunday Surf.  May all your Sunday Surfing be fun and informative.

Sunday Surf

I thought I would join in the fun of the Sunday Surf (hosted by Authentic Parenting).

Renee at Simple Homeschool talked about 3 lessons she has learned and is now sharing with the beginning homeschooler

Then on Se7en you can learn the 7 things she wishes she would have known when she began homeschooling

Michelle at Lagniappe Academy talked about their not back to school day and helping her daughter transition into homeschool after having been in public school

Cassie at Unschooling Blog hasn’t updated in a couple weeks but this post on The Myth of Forced Determination was thought provoking for me and well worth the read

I found this Parenting Beyond Belief article quite interesting*

H at This Adventure Life had a thought provoking article in response to this article that states kids with religious parents are better behaved.  She writes a lovely response so instead of writing my own I will just say Ditto.

These are just a few of the many articles I have read this week that really spoke to me.  I hope that you are able to get something from them as well.

*it was pointed out that this doesn’t go to an article just the website and of course now I can’t find exactly what it was I was reading.  However the site is interesting so I am leaving the link.
